On Thursday, the Nigeria Police Force announced the launch of a cybercrime reporting portal “to enable prompt investigation, arrest, and prosecution of perpetrators of cybercrime and other related offences”.
According to a statement by the police, victims or complainants can now report internet-related criminal activities online, at any time and from any part of the world.
“The cases are promptly attended to by the cybercrime unit of the force domiciled with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters, Abuja and the newly created Cybercrime Unit at the INTERPOL Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos,” the statement read.
However, checks by TheCable showed some abnormalities on the website.

The “reports/information” section on the front page leads to a table for some downloadable documents, among which is “schedule fees”.
A click on download leads to a page on the fees and charges of the postgraduate school of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger state.
It is unclear why the information of a school is found on a portal meant for reporting cybercrime.
