EXTRA: Sanusi’s daughter represents him at event — first time a woman will do so for an emir

Shahida Sanusi, daughter of Muhammad Sanusi II, emir of Kano, on Friday, represented him at the inaugural Chibok Girls’ lecture held by the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group.

Shahida, who delivered Sanusi’s speech at the event in Abuja, said her representing the emir would be the first time a non-title holder or woman would do so in the north.

Earlier, the emir in a video message to the group, said he chose his daughter to represent him at the event because of her passion for gender issues.

He said his daughter once slapped a boy for disrespecting her.

He also lampooned those who are opposed to his views, saying they would have to contend with his children who are more progressive and radical.

  1. HRM Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is one of my most revered Nigerian ever. I see nothing wrong at all with HRM SLS’s daughter representing him at a public function but I think he’s skeptical to say her daughter mercilessly slapped a man without respect for gender equality …

  2. REGAURDS TO WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER I SEE NOTHING WRONG FOR HER TO REPRESENTED HER FATHER, SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE HAS DO WHAT SOME MEN CAN’T DO, SHE IS VERY COMPETENT, INTELLEIENT

  3. It’s right a women to repres
ent a man since she has the quality and emir has the prerogative to choose who can be there.

  4. Thank God for Sanusi. For a long time now, we have been praying for a leader who will address issues both within and outside the north with the same objective passion, without religious sentiments. May God keep him for the good of our country

  5. Well done hja Shaida, more grease to your elbow! You are such a bright star and obviously one of HRM’s favourites. Allah ya kara albarka, ameen!!! And for the unrescued Chibok girls, God will bring you back soonest, ameen###

  6. A leader has to be exemplary, but all that SanusiII doing is deviated from the teachings of islam. Sanusi you have to be responsible of your deeds

    1. there is so much given to “religion” that nothing is left for “people” and “God”. What is the big deal in a brilliant young woman representing her father in a program to encourage oppressed young women like her.
Difference in social class has separated her from the chibok girls and it might be a good source of encouragement and more sense of belonging for the chibok girls.
Let’s start thinking morally, finding a way to make our world better rather than religiously that keeps on dividing us, causing hate among us and making our society worse….pleaseeee.

  7. KANO is an Islamic state so he suppose to have wear a dressings that islam required female weared. since KANO Islamic steter
