Doris Uzoka-Anite, minister of state for finance, officiating the launch of the podcast
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a podcast aimed at expanding financial literacy and promoting participation in the capital market, especially in remote areas.
Doris Uzoka-Anite, minister of state for finance, officiated the launch by cutting a blue and white ribbon in a ceremony that has drawn mixed reactions online.
A post on SEC’s X page on Monday showed Uzoka-Anite holding scissors as she marked the official unveiling of the podcast.
While some Nigerians praised the initiative, others questioned the need for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a digital product.

Speaking at the event, the minister described the podcast as an “innovative” step in making financial information more accessible.
She also expressed hope that it would encourage greater female participation in the capital market.
Emomotimi Agama, director-general of SEC, said the podcast aims to educate Nigerians about investment opportunities and create wealth across the country, particularly in underserved communities.

“We want people in the most remote parts of this country to be aware of the capital market and how they can participate to create wealth,” Agama added.
The podcast is expected to provide insights into financial markets, regulations, and investment opportunities, making key information available to a wider audience.
