The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says home owners, smartphones, cars are targets during the planned protests.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, Edward Buba, director of defence media operations, said places of worship and markets are targets as well.
Over the past few days, reports on planned nationwide protests, tagged ‘#EndBadGovernance’, have been gaining traction in the social and mainstream media.
The protest is reportedly slated for August 1 to 15.

The federal government and President Bola Tinubu had appealed to the protesters to shelve the demonstrations.
Buba said some “unscrupulous” elements are hell-bent on hijacking the protest to perpetrate violence.
The defence spokesperson said the military will not condone violent protests.

“There are indications that if you possess a smartphone, a car, a shop, if you own a house or even use an air conditioner in your house, you have been labelled a target,” Buba said.
“Other targets that have been labelled include places of worship, businesses, markets, ethnic groups, and members of the political parties, among others.”
He added that the military will not allow the country to descend into anarchy.
