EXTRA: Tinubu is senate chief whip for 25 mins

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday appointed Oluremi Tinubu, a senator from Lagos central and wife of Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), acting chief whip of the senate.

Tinubu acted as chief whip of the senate in the absence of both Olusola Adeyeye, substantive chief whip of the upper legislative chamber, and his deputy, on Thursday.

However, she acted in that capacity for only 25 minutes because the senate adjourned its sitting to May 12, shortly after it sat.

The adjournment was due to the congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which some of its members were attending.

This is shortest duration for which the eighth senate has sat, since its inauguration on June 9, 2015.

Also, Tinubu has become the only acting chief whip to hold the position for only 25 minutes.
