Two suspects identified by the police as Rilwan Sumonu and Damilare Akinwale have appeared before a magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly breaking into a police station to steal engine oil.
According to NAN, the suspects are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breaking-and-entering, and stealing.
Benson Emuerhi, the prosecutor, told the court on Wednesday that the defendants committed the offence on October 25 at Pen Cinema police station in Agege area of Lagos.
Emuerhi said the defendants and some others who are still at large, broke into the police station to steal engine oil, and were caught in the act.

“The defendants stole several litres of engine oil whose value is yet unknown and which is the property of the Nigerian police force,” he said.
“They were caught during the act and handed over for prosecution.”
He added that the offences contravened sections 287, 307 and 411 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015.

The suspects, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
J.A. Ajegun, the magistrate in charge of the case, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He then adjourned the case till December 14 for mention.
