EXTRA: Vigilante group asks for review of monthly allowance from N5k to N10k

The vigilante group in Agwara local government area of Niger state has called on the council authorities consider an upward review of their monthly allowance N5,000 to N10,000.

In an interview with NAN in Agwara on Sunday, Garba Wakili, an official of the group, said the review would assist in boosting the morale of the members.

According to Wakili, the current monthly allowance of N5,000 for members of the group was inadequate and could not meet their needs, and as such, there is need for an increment.

“The upward review of our allowances from N5,000 to N10,000 will boost our morale toward safeguarding the lives and property of people,” he said.

He expressed optimism that increased allowance would help to ensure effective service delivery to enable the group members complement the efforts of the security agencies in the area.

Wakili also appealed to the council and Jafaru Mohammed, member representing Borgu/Agwara federal constituency at the national assembly, to assist the group members with motorcycles and other such items needed for them to carry out their activities.

He appreciated the council for its support, saying his members were sacrificing their lives to safeguard lives and property of the people, hence the need for more assistance to enable them perform creditably.

According to NAN, there are 230 members of the group in the area.
