President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday jokingly said members of the national assembly were “all re-elected” during his presentation of the 2025 budget proposal.
The president made the lighthearted remark after being corrected by the lawmakers for mistakenly referring to the 10th assembly as the 11th.
Tinubu’s response to the correction elicited laughter and applause from the lawmakers.
“In fulfilment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly,” Tinubu said.

While responding, Tinubu playfully said, “I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected,” after lawmakers drew his attention to the slip of the tongue.
The amusing exchange comes on the heels of some lawmakers interrupting the joint session by singing, “On your mandate we shall stand.”
The president presented N47.96 trillion as the proposed budget for 2025 before the joint sitting of the senate and house of representatives.
