The Anambra government says it hasn’t ordered that schools and markets be closed on December 15 and 20.
There have been reports of tension in the south-east states after the sudden closure of schools and markets on November 30.
Reacting to the development, Christian Aburime, the chief press secretary, said the purported notice directing the closure of schools and markets is fake.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake notice flying around the social media wherein it was alleged that the government has directed that all schools and markets in the state be closed on the 15th and 20th of December,” he said.

“Let me state clearly that both information is very much untrue, false and misleading.
“I have not issued any such release. The fake news did not emanate from my office or any other government information unit.
“The public is hereby called upon to dismiss the information as fake, false and misleading. This is the handwork of mischief.”
