A viral post on social media linking Igbo youths to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) did not emanate from Muhammad Sanusi II, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), TheCable can confirm.
The post, which was falsely attributed to Sanusi, noted that the greatest achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari is that he created the IPOB which may consume the country.
The post goes further to state that an average Igbo youth is a member of the IPOB in the spirit, and does not believe in Nigeria.

However, the post was not made by the former emir or shared on a verified social media page owned by him.
“President Muhammad Buhari’s greatest achievement is that he has created a monster (IPOB) that will soon consume Nigeria,” the false post reads.
“An average Igbo youth is a member of IPOB by spirit, and it will be difficult to make them believe in one Nigeria, even when Buhari has left.

“Igbo youths don’t care about anything in Nigeria anymore, and even Igbo presidency doesn’t interest them anymore.
“My greatest fear is that Igbo youths are in every state in Nigeria, and if they decide to carry arms, Nigeria will be history.”
TheCable can confirm that the statement was not issued by the former Emir of Kano, nor by any official source linked to him.
“It’s been circulating for two weeks. I definitely did not make any such statement anywhere,” Sanusi said when asked by TheCable to confirm the authenticity.
