A viral video claims to show protesters at the Lagos residence of Bola Tinubu, former governor of the state. But this is not true.
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is rumoured to have a stake in the Lekki Concession Company, the firm managing the Lekki tollgate where #EndSAR protesters were shot at on Sunday.
In the video shared here, protesters are seen chanting songs against police brutality as part of an ongoing nationwide protest against the security agency.
One of the agitators is seen with a placard that reads: “We want a better Nigeria; no to oppression.”

The video has been viewed close to 200,000 times and shared widely including here, here and here by a former presidential spokesperson.
However, TheCable findings showed the video is neither of Tinubu’s residence nor is it from Nigeria.
When TheCable ran a google reverse image search of the thumbnail images from the clip, it showed pictures of the Nigerian high commission in Pretoria, South Africa.

The visible residential number — 971 — on the building captured in the video is that of the high commission which a google map shows is located at 971 Schoeman Street, Arcadia, Pretoria.
A street view of the location also captures the trees and buildings within the area as those seen in the viral video.
Tinubu’s Lagos residence, located along Bourdillon road in Ikoyi, is clearly different from the structure in the video.
