Officers of the Lagos state police command have arrested one Udu Augustine, a resident, found to be in possession of a fake police identity card.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos police spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to him, officers had stopped 39-year-old Augustine while he was riding a motorcycle in the Orile area of Lagos, and he had introduced himself as a policeman.
However, upon questioning and subsequent arrest, he was found to be in possession of police outfit and a fake identity card.

“The operatives suspected him and put some questions to him, but he could not provide any satisfactory answer. Hence, he was arrested in possession of a police warrant card,” Adejobi said.
“After the arrest, he was taken to his house, where one police camouflage T-shirt, one face cap and some police accoutrements were recovered from him.”
In another development, one Samuel Ayooluwa was arrested in Surulere area of Lagos for alleged armed robbery.

The 25-year-old was arrested by police officers on patrol, who were alerted by residents following the robbery of a shop in the area.
According to the police, he was arrested after members of his gang escaped during a raid of the area by the operatives.
“The police, who raced to the scene, gave the suspects a hot chase and eventually arrested one of them, Samuel, while the other two escaped,” Adejobi said.
“Items recovered from him included two locally-made pistols, three live cartridges, three expended cartridges and two mobile phones.”
