EXTRA: ‘I won’t leave it to God’ — Falana to sue FG after falling into manhole

Femi Falana is presently “limping and using a walking stick”. The federal government, he says, is to blame for his condition.

The senior advocate of Nigeria said he sustained injuries on Tuesday after falling into a manhole.

Falana, who says he’s now “wearing a plaster of Paris”, insists he won’t leave the matter to God “like the ordinary Nigerian”.

The human rights lawyer has said he will seek redress in court.

He made this known while speaking at the National Stakeholders Summit on Whistleblowing in Abuja.

“I am sure you saw me limping and using a walking stick when I was coming in. It is because I fell into a manhole while walking to my office on Shehu Shagari Way,” PUNCH reports.

“I broke my leg and I am even wearing Plaster of Paris and I was even hospitalised. So, I won’t like the ordinary Nigerian leave it to God.

“I have decided that tomorrow I will sue the federal government.”

Falana also lambasted Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo, for erecting statues in honour of Jacob Zuma, South African president and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Liberian president.

He said both presidents had corruption cases in their countries and Okorocha was insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians.

The governor had unveiled giant-sized statues of both leaders, an action which sparked widespread outrage. In response, Okorocha had said he will not apologise for his actions.
