Four goals from Asisat Oshoala and one each from Courtney Dike and Uchechi Sunday gave the Super Falconets a 6-2 win over Korea DPR in the highest-scoring semi-final in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup history.
On Sunday at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, Nigeria will meet Germany, who defeated France 2-1 in Wednesday’s second semi-final. In 2010, the final encounter between 2014’s two finalists ended 2-0 in favour of the Europeans.
It was another trademark early goal just after kick-off that opened the floodgates of goals in the match. Oshoala found Dike with a pass behind Korea DPR’s captain Choe Sol-Gyong, and the forward picked out the far post, beating the outstretched Kim Chol-Ok.
Oshoala doubled the lead after taking advantage of a poor touch from centre-back Song Kyong-Hui. With only the keeper to beat, Oshoala coolly slot the ball into the net.

Ri Un Sim pulled one back for the North Koreans with a great bit of individual effort beating two defenders before shooting into the top corner of Sandra Chiichii’s post.
In the second half, Uchechi Sunday came on as a substitute and within a minute (like she did in the last match) scored to restore Nigeria’s two-goal lead. Oshoala put the game beyond the Asian side with a stunning effort from 20 yards out that left Kim with no chance.
The Falconets conceded a penalty after Ugo Njoku handled the ball in her own area. Jon So-Yon made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Oshoala’s third goal soon came after beating Song and racing past Kim to deftly fire into an empty net.
Jersey-number-four-wearing Oshoala scored her fourth goal five minutes from time with a simple tap-in, a typical poacher’s goal after stealing in behind a Korean defender, to book Nigeria’s place in their second finals in four years.
