Fani-Kayode to Muslim Forum: Kukah didn’t attack Islam — he won’t apologise

Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, says the statement made by Matthew Kukah, bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese, did not attack Islam.

While accusing Buhari of nepotism in his Christmas message last December, the priest said there could have been a coup if a non-northern Muslim president did a fraction of what Buhari has done.

But the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) called for the prosecution of Kukah for allegedly demanding a coup.

Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) said the Christmas message was a “calculated attempt to insult” Islam and Muslims in the country.

On Wednesday, the Muslim Solidarity Forum asked Kukah to apologise for his alleged attack on Islam or leave the Caliphate.

In a series of Twitter posts, Fani-Kayode said the Bishop did not say anything wrong and will not apologise.

The former minister warned the groups asking the bishop to apologise to mind their words and maintain peace.

“Bishop Hassan Kukah did not attack Islam & has nothing to apologise about,” Fani-Kayode said.

“He has always sought for religious tolerance & peaceful co-existence between Christians & Muslims. Those that demand that he “must apologise” or “leave Sokoto” must mind their utterances & keep the peace.
