LAWMAKERS CAN BE LAW-BREAKERS, TOO
On November 20, a combined team of fully-armed mobile policemen and gun-totting operatives of the department of state services (DSS) laid siege to the national assembly in what could be referred to as the most dramatic episode of the 7th assembly.
Tambuwal and his loyalists were denied access to the assembly complex until some of them forced their way in, and then scaled the gate and broke it for the speaker to enter. When Tambuwal finally gained access, the police fired teargas canisters into the air. Their fence-scaling stunt is believed to have scuppered the plot to impeach Tambuwal, but it was little fun seeing grownups jumping over the fence like truant school kids.
