ARUNMA OTEH MUST GO
After accusing the house of representatives of demanding bribe from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the house asked former president Goodluck Jonathan to remove Arunma Oteh as director-general of the commission. The lawmakers upheld the recommendations of a committee that earlier indicted her for lack of competence to manage human and material resources.
Jonathan did not heed the call and months later when he needed the house to approve budget amendment proposal, the lawmakers used Oteh’s dismissal as a condition to grant the president’s request. They also refused to make budgetary provision for SEC, almost leading to the collapse of the capital market.
