Fayemi to inaugurate Ekiti ‘ultra-modern’ bus terminal on Thursday

Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti, will on Thursday inaugurate the newly completed Ado-Ekiti ultra-modern bus terminal.

Yinka Oyebode, the special adviser to Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, said in a statement on Wednesday that the project was started by Fayemi in 2021.

He said it was one of the legacy projects of Fayemi which was completed by Oyebanji.

Oyebode said it is only right for the former governor to cut the red tape.

He added that Oyebanji has directed that the complex be opened for business immediately after the inauguration.

“The bus terminal, an urban renewal project, is captured under the Infrastructure and Industrialisation pillar of the Oyebanji administration’s development agenda,” the statement reads.

“The commissioning of the bus terminal, coming a few weeks after the commissioning of the Traditional Rulers council chamber,  speaks to the commitment of the BAO administration to complete all uncompleted projects of the JKF 2.0 administration in line with the continuity and shared prosperity mantra.”

In 2021, Fayemi flagged off the construction of the bus terminal.

The former governor at the time said it was in line with “our vision to make our state capital an ultra-modern central business district”.

“A functional, efficient and integrated transport system is critical to urban development. This is why we are investing in modern transport infrastructure to unlock the potential that abounds in this sector,” he said at the flag-off.
