FG has seized Ekiti’s January allocation, says Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has accused the federal government of deliberately withholding the monthly allocation of his state.

He said this while briefing reporters at the government house, Ekiti.

Fayose alleged that there were plans to inhibit ongoing projects in the state, revealing that a protest letter had been sent to Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, but that there had been no response to the letter sent 10 days ago.

“In the last four weeks, Ekiti allocation and the budget support have not been released. Ekiti is the only state that has not been paid for the month of January,” he said.

“We have written to the minister of finance. My commissioner was there. I have spoken to the minister of finance but nobody is ready to talk to us.

“It seems it is deliberate because up till now, no excuse is given for this action.”

The governor also accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of threatening the contractors working in the state in a bid to “jeopardise ongoing projects”.

‘’The EFCC wrote letters to all contractors working in Ekiti, threatening them.”

Fayose appealed to the federal government not to “oppress the innocent civil servants of his state”, and to let peace continue to reign in Ekiti.

“I want to appeal to the federal government, I want to appeal to the minister of finance, not to allow themselves to be used to oppress and suffer the innocent civil servants of my state,” he said.

This state has been running peacefully, supporting Ayo Fayose at all times.”

“If this is a political attempt, or a deliberate attempt to cause problems in the state, it will not stand.

“I am calling on people with conscience to speak up. We will take necessary action to ensure that our money is paid.”
