Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, says heaven will not fall if Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is sacked by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Rumours that Jega could be sent on compulsory terminal leave have been generating public debate, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleging that Jonathan was planning to frame the INEC chairman up in order to remove him.
Fayose says APC’s “outburst” is “mere comedy”.
“By turning themselves to advocates and defenders of the INEC chairman, the APC and its agents have shown that they have a deal with Jega to manipulate the elections and that the deal will be frustrated if he is asked to leave office,” he said in a statement released by him media team on Wednesday.

“Removal of Jega and any other appointees of the Federal Government is a prerogative of the president, which no one can question, provided laid down rules are followed.”
He said the position expressed by the house of representatives was that of the APC members in the house, urging that “the APC lawmakers should rather pay attention to the ill-health of their party’s presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), whose whereabouts is now a mystery.”
Fayose described Jega as partisan, saying: “By his actions and utterances, Jega had already demonstrated his bias in support of the APC. For instance, how can Jega explain the 80 percent distribution of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in Boko Haram ravaged Borno and Yobe states while less than 40 percent distributed in Lagos as at February 7 that the election was postponed?”

“It is on record that Prof Maurice Iwu was asked to proceed on terminal leave two months to the end of his tenure? Is Jega not a beneficiary of Iwu’s removal? So if Iwu was asked to go on terminal leave before the expiration of his tenure for Jega to assume office, what difference does it make if Jega too is asked to proceed on terminal leave before the expiration of his tenure?
“It is the president that can determine whether or not Jega will go on the mandatory three months terminal leave which should commence on March 8, and if the president decides that the INEC chairman should go on terminal leave, what can the APC loudmouths do?
“They boasted before the postponement of the elections that they would go on street protests, but did they do anything? They made noise when Justice Isa Ayo Salami was removed from office as president of the Court of Appeal, what did their noise amount to?
“Therefore, let me say it categorically that the noise being made by the APC and their agents will amount to nothing because if the president removes Jega today, heavens will not fall.”

I think someone need to remind governor Fayose that Prof Iwu was not in the middle of election when he was asked to proceed on terminal leave. If he thinks he and his party can dare Nigerians, let them proceed on their plan and see what will happened. Heaven might not fall like he said, but there will be no hiding place for him and his cohorts.
Mr Peter Fayose has been so idle that he does not concern himself with the affairs of his state. GEJ does not have the sole power to remove Jega so Mr President should be careful not to violate the law.
Nigeria needs to go on a revolution so people like this man will realize that not many countries of the world will have a hiding place for them. Apparently what he and the people of his like manners are encouraging is dictatorship that has no place in a descent democracy.
I think fayose is one of the bad eggs feeding Mr president with beautiful nonsense
I like your comment my Dear. They shall look for a hiding place but find none.
It is clear that the ruling party wants Jega out so that they can rig the election like they did in Ekiti state. This is why Fayose can’t stop talking. God will not allow them,as long as there is a God in heaven Jega will conduct this election and Nigeria will be liberated from those who want to keep us in perpetual bondage.
Ayodele Fayose, this is an evidence that your state election was rigged.I wondered what kind of father you are, I doubt what you want to deliver to the upcoming generations in Ekiti, If truly you have agenda for Ekiti, Is this what you are expected doing? You are a disgrace to the entire citizens and race of yorubaland. Your job name haunts after you KARIMUJAY.
Ayo is what the Yoruba
s call ‘arije-ni-madaru’ meaning that he thrives when there is turbulence but he needs our prayers to be able to continue this his true way after March 28.
March on,A.Y
It is a pity that Ayo Fayose is the Governor of a well educated and articulated people of Ekiti , Mr Governor Yoruba say and I quote ‘ Ti won ba n pe eniyan loni ifun rada ni se loma npa ifun re moni ‘ please Fayose change ur ways for the sake of your children because they will have to pay for your bad deed ..
If he is found to be partisan, then what is President Jonathan waiting for. He should be pushed out
if Jega is found wanting,he should be removed without delay. Although i have high regards for him, he should not be speared if he has become partisan because this election is very to Nigerians & the entire World.
Ekiti people are in serious trouble with Ayodele Fayose. That President Jonathan with the assistance of the Military “rigged” him to become the Governor is already a public discourse. One would have expected him to quickly settle down for business and give his state the best, so that his people may perhaps forgive him after running away during his first tenure. What we’ve been witnessing since his ignonimous return to power however, does not suggest to me that he has learnt his lesson or that he has anything to offer. I advise Ayodele Fayose to fashion out ways of giving his state “dividends of democracy. EMPTY BARREL MAKES THE LOUDEST NOISE
Comander in Chief Of arm forces of FRN has power to remove anybody chosen for Federal appoint and Power to remove even if is a day to the Election. See let us do objective critism and not by hatred or what we stand to gain. Fayose has sid d right thing. If you don’t forget in a hurry what rules did Yaradua employ to remove Ribadu from EFCC Chairmon.
I ask: Is INEC no longer an institution? Is it about one man? If Jega dies(God forbid!) b4 March 28, won’t the elections still hold? Is the 3 months terminal leave constitutional?
Pls, let’s drop sentiments
GEJ will be seen as a f*** even in the eyes of the oppositions if he allows Jega to conduct this election an he is defeated.Every right thinking preson who has followed the body language of the APC knows that somthing has pass underground between Jega and APC.Jega cannot conduct a credible for nigeria,he must be sack.Lai Mohammed has met his match in fayose and kayode,
I wonder why people sit down comfortably in their houses and talk rubbish . Who among you were consulted before Jegas appointment. So why do you fight a war you can not win. Fayose is very correct . Jega or no Jega, election could be held and who ever is anointed will win. APC should stop crying foul when there is none
Sincerely I feel so bad within me, when I see the youth of day and leader of tomorrow making comparism that is baseless and listening to a glorify thug in government house. Why should people be comparing prof. Iwu removal to Prof. Jega. Jega is on a concluded mission while IWu is not, GEJ can not single handedly remove JEGA with d support of the two houses. Fayose should stop making noise and get busy with the task aheads of him. Well, I understand his plight, why wldnt he support the man that helped him to rigged ekiti state election, because he knows that the seat is not quarantee is GEJ loses the election. JEGA should be left alone 2 conclude the national assignment. He’s the most trusted INEC official Nigeria have produced.
Yes,because there’s no election in heaven but Ekiti can fall if Jega is removed as Fayose got into power through him!
Fayose should be ignored with his obnoxious comments. He”s not been associated with anything good since he assumed office as Governor in Ekiti. His position has been rigged for him to do just what he is doing now.
