Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “not in a stable state” after falling in the 2015 general election.
He said the party would therefore need some time to get its house in order.
Fayose was speaking on phone with Channels Television in response to the resignation of Adamu Mu’azu as nation chairman of the party, a move he described as “late but welcome”.
He also said his persistent calls for Mu’azu’s resignation were “nothing personal”.

“It is a good development for the PDP and the PDP is now an opposition party and I want to say he’s done well by accepting to tow the path of other,” Fayose said.
“Our call for his resignation is not personal; it’s just that it is in line with proper practice allover the world. When a leader leads his own people to an election in the manner that the PDP was led, then it is honourable for him to depart peacefully and he’s done it.
“Though late, it is still welcoming. And then, he is still one of us; we still see him as our leader. This is good for democracy.”

On the current mood in the PDP, he said: “Let me tell you, the PDP is not in a stable state because we fell, and for anyone to fall, you need time to get your house together.
“Over time, things should fall in place. Adamu Muazu’s departure is not out of place; the party would get over this period and we would pick the pieces and move on.”
