Fayose wants Obasanjo suspended from PDP

A day after the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suspended its former chairman for anti-party activities, Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has canvassed the same treatment for former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said the visit of five PDP governors to the former president was “unwarranted, unnecessary and uncalled for”.

Five governors visited Obasanjo on Thursday in what was seen as a move to pacify after launching a series of criticisms against Jonathan in recent times.

Fayose said the party must stop condoning “indiscipline” because “nobody should be treated as being bigger than the party”.

Obasanjo deserves no respect, he further said, maintaining that “no amount of mudslinging from him will stop President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election”.

The governor  said visiting Obasanjo to plead with him to rescind his decision not to participate in the party’s activities was capable of encouraging other members of the party to openly disrespect the office of President and Commander-in-chief of the Armed forces of Nigeria as being done by Obasanjo.

He described Obasanjo as one of the major problems of Nigeria, accusing him of wasting billions of naira in his attempt to perpetuate himself in office beyond the constitutionally recognised two-term.

He said: “Have you ever heard a former president of the United States openly abusing a sitting president of the country?

“Does it mean that former USA president, Bill Clinton agreed with all the policies of George W. Bush and the incumbent president, Barack Obama?

“Obasanjo is behaving unpresidential and he must be told to respect himself.”

He alleged that Obasanjo was already a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayose and Obasanjo fell out in 2006, leading to his impeachment as governor of Ekiti state when Obasanjo was president.

There was a public encounter between both of them in December 2010 at a thanksgiving by Olagunsoye Oyinlola, then governor of Osun state.

Fayose had arrived and greeted everybody except Obasanjo.

Perplexed, Obasanjo asked Fayose if he did not see him.

“I won’t greet you. You are bad person! I don’t greet bad people!” Fayose said.

“You are a bastard,” Obasanjo fired back.

He shouted back at Obasanjo: “You are a father of bastards!”

He moved menacingly towards Obasanjo and warned the former president never to talk to him again.

“You created all these troubles in the south-west,” Fayose said.

  1. Obasanjo’s suspension will only break the PDP’s camel hunch back. For ‘Fayoose’, Omode bu Iroko o boju weyin,………….. meaning, a child casts aspersion at Iroko tree and looks back at the tree, the child does not know that the Iroko tree will not kill in a day. I followed the fall of Fayose in 2006 or thereabout and I sympathized with the young man with huge political promises but with little or no moral consciousness on the need to respect the elders. Too bad!

    1. @Ade……..you are very entitled to your opinion. while I agrees with u about the importance of respecting elders, i totally disagreed to the fact that some Governors are going to beg him. My point is beg him for what? Why is he making his self looks like a god?

      1. If u think he is a god, u thought it. He did not call himself one. Only inferiority complex can cause that or stupid envy. Wait till you are bigger like Obasanjo. A brave president that he is.

  2. rubbish…. they should both behave themselves and as for fayose, he shouldn’t forget that Baba is still very influential..
