Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, says he is an Israelite in the midst of enemies, but God would see him through his travails.
Fayose, who was “served an impeachment notice last week” by 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the Ekiti state house of assembly, said those behind his undignified exit from office in 2006 are the same ones plotting his removal this time around, but they would not succeed.
He was speaking on Monday during an audience participatory programme titled ‘Meet Your Governor’.
“I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God,” he said.

Denying that he has received any notice of impeachment from the 19 lawmakers, Fayose said he was being targeted for supporting the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Nobody served me any impeachment notice. I only saw the notice online like every other person,” he said.
“They are doing all these just to get at me because of my support for President Jonathan and I have no regret for supporting the president.

“Let me say it again, I have not been served any impeachment notice. The house of assembly is also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the speaker.
“Omirin is in court, challenging his impeachment and he can’t be challenging his impeachment in court and at the same time laying claim to being Speaker.”
While urging the APC to accept defeat in a similar manner with Jonathan, Fayose said: “By the power of God, they lost 16 – 0 on June 21, 2014, they lost 16 – 0 again on March 28, they will lose 26 – 0 on Saturday, April 11.”
The lawmakers have given him an ultimatum of seven days to respond to eight impeachable offences filed against him.

This man is sure stretching his luck too far by equating himself with God. Just pray you don’t set the unenviable record of the only governor to be impeached twice.
