The federal executive council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Tinubu, has approved N242.68 billion for the rehabilitation, rescoping, and construction of 14 major road projects across the country.
David Umahi, minister of works, spoke while briefing state house correspondents on the outcomes of the meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
Umahi said the approval aligns with the administration’s renewed hope agenda, which prioritises reassessing and completing inherited projects.
The minister outlined the approved projects and their respective budgets, including the Agaie-Katcha-Baro road in Niger state, allocated N22 billion to Messers GR Building Construction Limited, and the Odukpani junction (Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja Road) in Cross River state, awarded N26.335 billion to Samatech.

Additionally, the Abeokuta-Ajibo road and Iyana Mosa road in Ogun state received N10.89 billion for execution by Messers HM Construction Limited, while the Inoma-Iyaka-Abaji section of the Ibaji-Odulu-Ajibu road in Anambra state was allocated N9.33 billion to Niger Cat.
“Others are Umuahia-Ituano-Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia Emudike Section – N14.37 billion (Contractor: Heartland Reckon Construction Company); Kaduna-Jos Road (Phase One), Kaduna and Plateau States – N33.423 billion (Contractor: Setraco); Yola-Fufure Road, Adamawa State – N11.81 billion (Contractor: WisChina Worldwide Engineering Limited); Ijebu-Ibutita Ebe Road, Ogun State – N13 billion (Contractor: Aretha Construction Limited); and Amido Road, Taraba State – N7.68 billion (Contractor: Messers Mode Limited),” Umahi said.
“Others are Nkomoro-Isu Road, Enugu and Ebonyi States – N14.49 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Aba-Owerri Road Dualization via Ikot Ekpene Border – N11.55 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Gashua-Bayamari Road (Section Two), Yobe State – N9.68 billion (Contractor: Messers Wick Rock); Ikorodu-Shagamu Road (Phase One of Lagos-Ibadan Road) – N27.59 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Remaining Sections of Lagos-Ibadan Road – N30 billion (Contractor: RCC).”

The minister said the council also approved N7 billion for the rescoping of the AK Bypass, to be executed by Ghitto Construction Limited.
He underscored the need to complete key road projects by April to meet commissioning deadlines, reaffirming the government’s dedication to improving Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
Umahi noted that the council postponed approval for the proposed construction of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) headquarters, pending further review.
On January 3, the FEC approved N885 billion for the execution of 10 road projects.

Umahi said the projects are aimed at upgrading Nigeria’s road networks and bridges across various states.
