The federal high court says it would go on break from December 18 to mark the Christmas holiday.

In a statement on Saturday, Sulaiman Hassan, chief registrar of the court, said only Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt judicial divisions will be open to address fundamental rights-related cases.

“The federal high court of Nigeria wishes to notify the general public, lawyers and litigants that the court’s Christmas vacation for the year 2023 shall commence from Monday, 18th December 2023 to Friday, January 5th 2024,” the statement reads.

“However, Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt judicial divisions shall remain open to the public only for matters relating to enforcement of fundamental rights; arrest or release of vessels and matters that concern dire national interest.

“The court shall resume sitting on Monday, 8th January 2024.”
