A blast set off by a female suicide bomber tore through a crowded market in Damaturu, capital of Yobe state, on Sunday, killing at least 15 people.
A witness told Reuters that about 50 people were injured in the incident, which occurred around 9:30 am.
“Fifteen people have been confirmed dead so far and more dead bodies are being brought to the hospital,” Toyin Gbadegasin, the state’s police spokesman, said.
Yobe is one of the states affected by the insurgency in the north-east.
