The federal government has advised Nigerian women to explore investment opportunities in the capital market to create wealth.

According to a statement on Monday by Mohammed Manga, director of information and public relations at the ministry of finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, minister of state for finance, spoke on Monday in Abuja during the official launch of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) podcast.

Uzoka-Anite underscored the importance of women’s participation in the capital market, noting that increased involvement would unlock new economic opportunities.

“Opening opportunities for women in the capital market would create a pathway to wealth creation. We need to come up with more policies, reforms, or frameworks that encourage more women to participate in the financial sector,” the minister said.

“The institutional approach, where we encourage the institutions to give women a chance, to treat women based on their competencies, capacities, and encourage them.”

Commending the SEC for launching the podcast, the minister described the initiative as “very innovative and highly needed at this time,” expressing optimism that it would encourage greater female participation in the capital market.

In his remarks, Emomotimi Agama, director-general of the SEC, explained that the podcast aims to disseminate information across the market and to promote understanding of the capital market.

“We want people in the most remote parts of this country to be aware of the capital market and how they can participate to create wealth,” Agama said.
