The federal government has applauded civil society organisations (CSOs) for deploying initiatives in tracking public service delivery.
Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), gave the commendation at a validation retreat organised in Abuja, to adopt the second national action plan (NAP) of the open government partnership (OGP) in Nigeria.
Government departments were also commended alongside the CSOs for developing technology tools for citizen engagement towards enhancing transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
OrderPaper, Nigeria’s legislative-focused advocacy group, and others were applauded by the AGF for developing ConsTrack, a technology platform which includes a mobile app and web-based interface for citizens to directly monitor and report on the implementation of public projects using validated and verified data pre-loaded to facilitate objective tracking of government service delivery.

“Some of these platforms include; iMonitor by the Budget Office of the Federation; Budeshi by Public and Private Development Company; NOCOPO by Bureau of Public Procurement; IFollowtheMoney by Connected Development; Tracka by BudgIT; and Constrack by Order Paper.”
He added that “more MDA’s and CSO will join the effort to make public documents and activities transparent and more accessible to the citizens,” as a way of enhancing the OGP process and make government transparent and accountable.
