FG approves sale of NAF aircraft, says bids should be quoted in dollars

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the federal government has approved the sale of its Falcon 900B aircraft. 

An ‘invitation to tender’ signed by Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesperson, asked interested buyers to submit bids via email or physically. 

Gabkwet said the aircraft is available for inspection at the 307 EAG hangar of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The NAF spokesperson added that all bids should be quoted in dollars, while submissions should not be later than December 24, 2023.

“The federal government of Nigeria has approved the sale of Falcon 900B aircraft owned by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF),” the statement reads. 

“In compliance with provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2007, the NAF hereby invites all interested parties to submit bids for the purchase of the aircraft. 

“The bids can be submitted by email or physically.

“If submitted by email, the bids are to be password-protected and sent to [email protected] while the password is to be sent separately to [email protected]

“For physical submission, the quotations are to be enclosed in an envelope and sealed, while the envelope is to bear the name and address of the interested company/entity as well as the description and reference to the request.

“It should also bear the statement, ‘DO NOT OPEN BEFORE 24 DECEMBER 2023’. Please note that the bids would be processed immediately after the expiration of the deadline for submission.”

According to the tender invitation, the aircraft was inducted into the service on October 3, 1990, with NAF as the sole owner.

The aircraft can take off at 6,002 feet above sea level, 3,519 feet landing distance and 51,000 feet certified ceiling. 

The aircraft is also said to be equipped with a runway awareness and advisory system (RAAS). 

Interested buyers are to submit their bids to the office of the committee for the sale of Falcon 900B Aircraft (NAF-961) chairman at the NAF headquarters in Abuja.
