Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications, has promised staff of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) that the organisation will be transformed, while they would be better paid.

Adebayo said a bill to reform NIPOST was before the national assembly, disclosing that one of the issues that the bill would help to resolve is the multiple roles that NIPOST played as a regulator, an active operator and a revenue generator.

The minister, who was represented by Sunny Echono, permanent secretary of the ministry, made this known when he visited headquarters of the service in Abuja.

“The transformation of the postal service should be something that all staff should embrace career wise and it is also good for the country’s image and will give more impetus to it services,” he said.

“It will make you a central and vocal element in the governance of our country.

“All issues related to ICT services, financial inclusion, logistics, delivery of goods and services, digital economy and e-governance are all hinged on this platform.

“With your postal offices across the country, you will be one of the prime movers of the implementation.”

He said that the ministry hoped that the national assembly would quickly pass the postal bill so that it would position NIPOST to adequately carry out its mandate.

  2. i smell foul play. buhari wants to overturn the appointmnt of a new PNG to fix his northern loyalist that’s why he is delaying the announcement of the new post master general of NIPOST

  3. We @ NIPOST are begging the minister to make this change real because our salary is too poor. Imagine collecting your salary & its finished within 2 or 3 days. PLEASE HELP US.

    1. we the nipost staff has suffered alot in this ministry.we pray that the new PMG and the minister should look into our situation and staff welfare.

    2. Your comment..l pray God to save us from the hands of these heartless people; the minister and the pmg should act fast and salvage our souls from these wicked people at the top of affairs in nipost we are tired of their empty promises we want to see them in action

  4. this people call NIPOST workers are suffered, some of them are survive because of them collecting loan, please I want the federal government especially the president and the minister including the new postmaster general to have mercy on them so that they will be able to survived with their family members some of them have five children and he is a level 7 officer collecting thirty something thousand naira, IT IS NOT FAIR PLEASE.

  5. We the NIPOST Staff have suffered enough and Government should stop all this games and make proper arrangement to avoid all this delay tactics. A sum of 10,000 is been paid for house rent for a year where will someone get a rent of 10,000 per annual which is not possible, we the Junior staff are really suffering no intensive, no bonu, just the salary that is not up to 46,000 for a level 7 officer in the federal ministry.

  6. please what is the salary scale of level 8 officer. thanks cos there is an offer waiting and i would love to choose a better one

  7. Every organization should have an employee portal to resolve all the issues. USPS manages all its employees and thier salaries through liteblue portal.
