President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the closure of the nation’s land borders from Thursday midnight to Sunday midnight to ensure the smooth conduct of the April 11 governorship election.
On March 25, the federal government also directed that the land borders be closed to ensure that foreigners did not participate in the presidential and national assembly election.
“President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the closure of all Nigeria’s land and sea borders from 12.00 mid night Wednesday 25th March, 2015 to 12.00 mid night Saturday 28th March,2015 to allow for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming national elections,” he said at the time.
“The Nigeria Immigration Services has also been directed to ensure that non Nigerians do not participate in any part of the election processes.”
