Adeniyi Ademola, a federal high court judge, received $520,000 from Messrs Johnson & Johnson Solicitors, the federal government said on Monday in charges filed against him and his wife, Olabowale. 

Their home was among those searched by the Department of State Services (DSS) on allegations of corruption.

The judge and his wife are accused of illegally receiving money running to millions of naira contrary to Section 8 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission Act, 2011 and Section 115 of the Penal Code Law.

The charge against the Ademolas read that they received N30million from Messrs Joe Odey Agi Associates between March 11 and 26 2015 and another N40 million between February 20 and 21 2014. It said his wife also received N30million from Messrs Joe Agi Associates.

It said that they accepted N55.6 million from Messrs G.T. J Ademola & Co between January 5 and June 23 2016.

The charge also alleged that Ademola on May 6 2013 received $520,000 from Messrs Johnson & Johnson Solicitors and another N6 million between February 25 and April 16, 2015 from same firm.

It said the federal high court judge on February 20 2014 accepted N34million from Omotayo Babafemi Aliyu and N4.7m from Lawan Sulaiman between February 21 and November 7 2014.

He was also alleged to have accepted N30m from Messrs Joe Odey Agi Associates between February 20 and 21 2014.

The charge further alleged that Justice Ademola on February 20 2014 accepted N40million from Vertice Solutions Ltd as well as accepting another N47.6 million from Acardian Energy Services Ltd.

The charges were filed on behalf of Abubakar Malami, attorney general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice by Hajara Yusuf, a principal state counsel at a high court in Abuja.
