FG to spend over N50bn on five FCT contracts

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved over N50 billion for the execution of five contracts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Council also approved is 43 billion for the upgrade of a section of the East West Road in the southern part of the country.

Briefing state house correspondents on Wednesday after the council meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, Nurudeen Mohammed, the supervising minister for the ministry of information, said the five contracts in the FCT include the 14-kilometre one-service carriage way of the inner northern expressway from Ring Road Two to Ring Road Four in the Abuja Industrial Park for the sum of N7 billion.

He said the council made an upward review of the contract sum for the provision of engineering infrastructure for Wuye District by N3.4 billion.

“The sum was increased from N39.7 billion to N43 billion to accommodate the construction of a flyover bridge at Wuye District,” he said, addig that the ministry of water resources got approval for the revised estimated total cost of the contract for the upgrade of the Molete Water Works in Kwara state.

The council also approved the upgrade of the 15-kilometre Port Harcourt-Onne Junction Road in Rivers state.
