The federal government says four ramps connecting Adekunle to the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed down for “comprehensive repairs”.

The four ramps will be closed down by 7am on Monday.

In a statement on Friday, Olukorede Kesha, the federal controller of works, Lagos, appealed to motorists to obey traffic rules during the repairs.

“The federal government, through the federal ministry of works, wishes to inform the motoring public that the government has perfected plans to carry out comprehensive repairs of Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos,” Kesha said.

“In view of the above, the motoring public is, hereby, notified that all four ramps connecting Adekunle to Third Mainland Bridge will be closed at the same time going forward.

“Consequently, motorists are, hereby, advised to use alternative routes while cooperating with the traffic management officials deployed to manage traffic and ensure hitch-free movement.”

In October, the federal government commenced palliative repair of failed sections of the Third Mainland Bridge.

Recently, many Nigerians have been lamenting the state of the bridge, with long stretches of the 11.8-kilometre road riddled with crater-sized potholes.
