Sadiya Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, says victims of terrorism will be included in all the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) to enable them to recover properly.
Farouq, represented by Funke Olatunji, CEO, special duties, said this on Thursday at a sensitisation programme held in Katsina state.
The minister said insecurity has made it difficult for victims of terrorism to access basic services, adding that the ministry seeks to help provide stability through social inclusion.
“It is a fact that security in Nigeria has continued to restrict access to basic services and both affected people and host communities require emergency support and other necessary human assistance,” the statement reads.

“To this end, the ministry whose mandate is to provide assistance for the vulnerable groups in Nigeria had realized the enormous challenges faced by the victims of terrorism across Nigeria and has commenced a pilot phase of sensitization and survey of victims of terrorism.
“Nigeria is a signatory of UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy A/RES/60/288 with commitment to addressing the conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism which entails provision of assistance and support — relief materials, medicals, justice, psychological and social assistance and rehabilitation as well as related services — to victims of terrorism with a view to securing a holistic treatment for victims from the immediate aftermath of an attack.”
She added that the ministry will partner with relevant stakeholders to provide the necessary support to victims of terrorism across the country.
