World football ruling body FIFA and Manchester United have offered condolence messages to families of Nigerians that died while watching a football match in Calabar, Cross River.
The incident took place on Thursday during the Europa League game between Manchester United and Anderlecht.
A transformer explosion near the viewing centre located in the Iyang-Esu area of Calabar resulted in a number of casualties.
FIFA in a message on its official Twitter handle said: “FIFA is deeply saddened by the deaths of several football fans in Calabar and offer our deepest condolences to family and friends of the victims.”

Manchester United also condoled with the families of the victims.
