Nigeria moved ten places up in the latest FIFA rankings to 50th in the world and 8th in Africa, getting to its best spot in 2016.
Former African leaders Algeria dropped 5 places to 38. Senegal is Africa’s top ranked team in 33rd position. Iran leads Asian teams at 30, falling three places.
Argentina remains world number one, while Brazil moved to the second position.
Argentina topped the rankings despite the 3-0 loss to Brazil in their World Cup qualifying clash earlier in the month.

They have not won a major title in the four-year cycle of results that decide the rankings.
Germany dropped one spot to third place, while Chile, the Copa America champions, climbed two places to fourth. Costa Rica moved up to 17, while Mexico dropped to 18.
The United States of America dropped four places to 28 after losing to Costa Rica and Mexico in their World Cup qualifying game.

The top ten in the world are: Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Chile, Belgium, Colombia, France, Portugal, Uruguay, Spain.
Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, DR Congo, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ghana Morocco are the top ten in Africa.
Nigeria’s best spot, in the ranking, was recorded in 1994, when it ranked 5th in the world.
