FIGURES: 9 states of 2011 vs 9 states of 2015

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the results of eight states and the FCT in the 2015 presidential elections.

So far, Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has gathered 2,302,978 while Goodluck Jonathan, incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democraitic Party (PDP) has 2,322,734.

At this stage four years ago, in the 2011 election, results from these same states and the FCT show that Jonathan had 3,369,130 while Buhari had 677,546

This compares the figures received in 2011 and 2015 by the two leading aspirants.

EKITI

In 2011, Jonathan garnered 135,009 votes from 764,726 registered  voters with 34.2 per cent turnout. Meanwhile, Buhari polled 2,689 votes.

Lets see four years later. Buhari has received 120,331 votes, while Jonathan has 176,466 votes. Registered voters were 723,255 while accredited voters was 323,739.

OGUN

In 2011, Jonathan polled 309, 177 votes of 1,941,170 registered voters with 28 per cent voter turnout, while Buhari polled 11,890 votes.

In 2015, of 1,709,409 registered voters with 594,975 accredited voters, Buhari got 308,290 votes while Jonathan has 207,950.

Total valid votes was 533,172. Rejected votes – 26441. Total votes cast 559,613.

ENUGU

In 2011, Jonathan had 802,144 votes while Buhari got 3,753 votes. total number of registered voters was 1,303,155 with 62.5 per cent voter turnout.

In 2015, Buhari got 14,157, while Jonathan got 553,003 of  573,173 total valid votes with 12,459 rejected votes.

KOGI

In 2011, the number of registered voters was 1,316,849 with 42.7 percent voter turnout. Buhari polled 132,201 votes while Jonathan polled 399,816 votes.

Four year later, the number of registered voters is 1,350,883 while number of accredited voters is 476, 839. Buhari polled 264,851 votes while Jonathan polled 149,987 votes.

Total valid votes –  421,328.  Rejected votes – 17,959. Total votes cast – 439,287.

OSUN

In 2011, the number of registered voters stood at 1,293,967, with 39.6 per cent voter turnout. Buhari got 6,997 votes while Jonathan got 188,409 votes.

In 2015, registered voters is 1,378,113 with 683,169 accredited voters. Buhari garnered 383,603 votes while Jonathan garnered 249,929 votes.

Total valid votes – 642,615. Rejected votes – 20,758. Total votes cast – 663,373.

ONDO

In 2011, registered voters was 1,616,091 with 30.1 per cent voter turnout. Buhari had 11,890 votes while Jonathan had 387,376 votes.

In 2015, registered voters is 1,501,549 with 618,040 accredited voters. Buhari has 299,889 votes while Jonathan has 251,368.

Valid votes – 561,056. Rejected votes – 21,379. Total votes cast – 582 435.

FCT

In 2011, registered voters was 943,473 with 42.2 per cent voter turnout. Buhari polled 131,576 votes while Jonathan polled 253,444 votes.

In 2015, there are 886,573 registered voters and 344,056 accredited voters. Buhari has 146,399 votes while Jonathan has 157,195.

Valid votes – 306,805. Rejected votes – 9,210. Total votes cast – 316,015.

OYO

In 2011, registered voters was 2,572,140 and voter turnout was 33.6 per cent. Buhari polled 92,396 votes while Jonathan had 484,758 votes.

In 2015, registered voters are 2,344, 448 while accredited voters are 1,073,849. Buhari has 528,620 votes while Jonathan has 303,376. Valid votes – 881,352. Rejected votes – 47,254.

NASARAWA

In 2011, total number of registered voters was 1,389,308 with 50 per cent voter turnout. Buhari had 278,390 votes while Jonathan had 408,997 votes.

In 2015, with 1,222,054 registered voters and 562,959 accredited voters, Buhari has 236,838 votes while Jonathan has 273,460. Valid votes – 511,547. Rejected votes – 10,094. Total votes cast – 521,641.
