The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the list of candidates for the Edo Governorship election scheduled for September 10.
A statement by Augusta Ogakwu, secretary to the commission, 19 candidates fielded by their political parties have been cleared to contest the election.
She said publishing of the eligible candidates was in accordance to section 34 of the electoral act 2010 (as amended) which provides that “the commission shall, at least thirty days before the day of the election publish by displaying or causing to be displayed at the relevant office(s) of the Commission and on the Commission’s website, a statement of the full names and addresses of all candidates standing nominated”.
The candidates and their parties cleared by INEC to contest the election is as follows:
