Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba and chairman of the Okun area traditional council, has announced the final funeral rites for his father, Timothy Owoniyi.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Kabba royal court said the final funeral rites will hold on October 8, 2022 at the Olonijola events centre, Kabba, Kogi state.
The older Owoniyi died on December 2, 2021, at the age of 90.
According to the statement, a 25-member reception planning committee chaired by Asiru Idris. the state commissioner for finance, budget and planning, has been put in place to ensure a “world-class event”.

Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, is expected to lead dignitaries, including prominent traditional rulers from across the country, to the burial reception.
In the statement, the Owoniyi dynasty thanked leaders of the community, friends and associates of the family, as well as members of the public who have “demonstrated great enthusiasm in the preparations for the event”.
They added that security would be beefed up to ensure safety of attendees.
