Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo state, has expressed his support for the nomination of Adebayo Shittu as minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor, who admitted that him and Shittu had been on different wavelength, said he decided to forgive the ministerial nominee after he reached out to him.
Ajimobi was speaking when he received representatives of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA) in his office on Monday.
“It is the president’s prerogative to select or nominate his ministers but the practice has always been in consultation with the state,” he said.

“As the leader of the party, the president told members to allow him select those who would work with him and i won’t oppose Shittu’s nomination since he is the choice of the president.
“Shittu himself has come to me and has apologised. He knew he was always against me and the party.
“He campaigned against us. To forgive is divine. If we all pray to God to forgive us our sins, then we should learn to forgive others.

“A leader must learn to accommodate and forgive. I have forgiven him.”
Earlier, Atilola Adewale, who spoke on behalf of the NSCIA delegation, said that the delegation came to plead with the governor to support Shittu’s nomination as minister.
“We ask that the governor forgives Shittu for whatever wrong he might have committed,” he had said.
TheCable had reported how Ajimobi and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, opposed the nomination of Shittu.
