Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa state, has approved the selection of seven chiefs and emirs for the newly created chiefdoms and emirates.
On December 23, the governor announced the creation of seven new emirates and chiefdoms in the state.
He said the creation of the new emirates and chiefdoms was based on the Adamawa state Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024.
The new emirates and chiefdoms are Hoba chiefdom with headquarters at Hong; Madagali chiefdom at Gulak; and Michika chiefdom with headquarters at Michika.

Others include Fufore emirate with headquarters at Fufore; Gombi chiefdom with headquarters at Gombi; Maiha emirate with headquarters at Maiha; and Yungur chiefdom with headquarters at Dumne.
A statement on Friday by Humwashi Wonisikou, chief press secretary to the governor, said the selection is based on merit and their popularity among their people.
He said the governor has advised the title heads to be fair, honest and responsible in their duties.

The names of the traditional rulers and their domains are Sani Ahmadu Ribadu as emir of Fufore; Alheri Nyako as Tol of Huba; and Bulus Luka Gadiga as the Mbemge Ka Michigan.
Others are Ali Danburam as Phil Madagali; Aggrey Ali as Kumu Of Gombi; Ahmadu Saibaru as emir of Maiha; and John Dio as Gubo Yungur.
