Fire outbreak: We’ll ensure prompt restoration of power in Kebbi, says FG

Atiku Bagudu, minister of budget and economic planning, says the federal government will intervene to ensure prompt restoration of power in Kebbi state.

Bagudu gave the assurance on Monday when he visited the Birnin-Kebbi substation alongside Umar Abubakar, deputy governor of Kebbi state.

On September 14, 2023, a fire incident occurred at the substation, affecting power supply in Kebbi and Sokoto states.

Speaking during the visit, Bagudu said: “I came here with the deputy governor and we are ready to collaborate with the state government to ensure electricity supply is restored as quickly as possible.

On his part, Abubakar said electricity would be temporarily restored to some parts of the state by tonight or Tuesday.

“From what we have gathered from the TCN, from the engineers on the site, I am happy to say that the engineers are working round the clock,” he said.

“I think before, our thought was that we are going to be in darkness for three weeks or two months.”

He assured that electricity will be available very soon as “they are working round the clock”.
