A section of a three-storey building at the Lagos state government staff quarters in Ogba has been razed by fire.
The building is on Odunsanmi street, off WEMPCO Road. The fire raged in the early hours of Friday.
In a statement, Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said the fire gutted one of the two-bedroom apartments in flat 5 of block 21.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.

“Upon immediate response, it was confirmed that one of the two-bedrooms in flat 5 of block 21, a two-winged, three-storey building of 16 two-bedroom flats, was engulfed,” he said.
“Investigation conducted by the agency’s response team revealed that the fire originated from the children’s room as a result of power surge.
