First Bank of Nigeria FC defeated Securities and Exchange Commission FC to emerge champions of the All Financial Institutions Football Competition (AFIFC).
FBN FC won the 32nd edition of the tournament via penalties at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Oyo, after the scoreline stood at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
In the third-place match, Azabe Zinariya MFB FC spanked Balogun Fulani MFB FC 6-2 to take home the bronze medal.
Isa Abdulmunin, spokesperson for the tournament, said Godwin Emefiele, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, commended all the teams that participated in the competition.

Emefiele was represented by Ajuma Modojemu, controller of the Ibadan branch of the apex bank.
While lauding the increase in the number of financial institutions that registered for the competition, he urged others to encourage their teams to register for next year’s edition.
The governor also thanked the Oyo state government for making the stadium available, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for mobilising financial institutions and ensuring a hitch-free competition.

He acknowledged the contribution of the media and the football fans for their conduct during the competition.
Mutiu Adepoju, former Super Eagles midfield maestro, was present at the tournament finale.
