What would have been the emergence of the first elected female governor in Nigeria may have been aborted, as collation of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Taraba state reaches its final phase.
Aisha Jumei Al-hasan, female and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in an early lead, prompting widespread jubilation that she was all but confirmed as the country’s first female governor.
But Aisha has now been overtaken by Darius Ishaku of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). While she has polled 261,326 votes, Ishaku has 310,805 to his name.
Results from 15 local governments areas of the state have already been announced, and only one local government is left.

Choi, there is God o!
Lady Virginia Etiaba was Governor of Anambra State between November 2006 and February 2007 after Peter Obi was impeached. If Aisha Jumei Al-hasan wins, she will be the second female Governor in Nigeria. Let us always get our Headlines and details right and correct in the interest of good and robust journalism.

Thank you.
But the story didn’t say ‘first female governor’ but first ELECTED female governor. Virgy wasn’t elected. I think you should give the cable credit for factual and thorough cross checking of facts! If at all they will make an error, it’s not on a small matter like first female governor in Nigeria! Cable big pass that kin error!
Strange coincidence. These figures been reported for the governorship in Taraba state APC 261,326 PDP 310,805 are nearly almost the same for the presidential elections APC 261,326 PDP 310,800 . Are we missing something in the reporting?
