Five killed in fresh bomb attack in Borno

The Borno state police command on Tuesday said five lives were lost during a bomb attack in Konduga local government area of the state.

Victor Isuku, spokesman of the command, confirmed this in a statement issued in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Isuku said three suicide bombers hurriedly detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies, killing themselves and two others.

“Information received from Konduga has it that on Monday at about 2130 hrs, three Female suicide bombers detonated explosives strapped to their bodies at Shuwa settlement of Mandarari ward Konduga, killing themselves and two others,” Isuku said.

“While six persons sustained injuries, normalcy has been restored in the area.”

This is the second attack by Boko Haram after the swapping of 82 Chibok girls with some of its commanders.

Two suicide bombers had attacked the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), killing one security guard and leaving a soldier injured.

In January, the sect struck in the university killing four people, including an infant and a professor.
