Five things we learned from Man City’s thrashing of Liverpool

Manchester City produced an excellent display to defeat Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield on Sunday.

Here are five things we learned.

Ilkay Gundogan is peerless

When the German playmaker fancies it, it’s best to just sit back and enjoy the show. He mesmerised fans against the Reds, dancing his way past them without breaking a sweat.

The regularity at which he did it may have made fans wonder if they were watching a football match or Anna Pavlova was putting on a show. Although he missed a penalty kick, Gundogan dusted himself off to produce a spectacular display and get a brace.

Defensive upgrades are necessary

Manchester City caused Liverpool a number of problems in the game.

That will be a source of concern for Jurgen Klopp and he will be keen to address the persisting problem. They will struggle to stay in the top four as long as defensive issues continue to plague them.

City party like it’s 2003

Before this meeting between the two sides, Manchester City were winless at Anfield since May 3, 2003.

Manchester City look unstoppable

Manchester City picked up their 10th win in the last 10 games today. They are on a roll and look unstoppable at the moment.

With five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City and a game in hand, the Citizens can start dreaming of the Premier League title.

Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling were brilliant

One thing Liverpool failed to do was to stop the dangerous runs of Englishmen, Foden and Sterling. The duo was brilliant up-front and their contributions were rewarded with a goal each.
