At least five members of the U.S. Secret Service have been placed on administrative leave following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Midway into his speech at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man, shot at the former US president.
Trump was rushed off the stage by security agents, but a bullet had pierced the upper part of his right ear.
Fox News reports that five members, including one of Trump’s protective team and four of the Secret Service’s Pittsburgh field office, have been sidelined nearly six weeks after the incident.

The five are still employed but are teleworking and are no longer allowed to do any investigative work.
The development comes after the secret service concluded internal interviews to understand how the shooter was able to successfully fire several shots during the rally.
Before now, Kimberly Cheatle, director of the secret service, had resigned after facing a congressional committee on oversight and accountability over the attempted assassination.
