Folu Adeboye, wife of Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has launched Horizon 2033, an international education initiative.
Africa Missions Global (AMG), an organisation founded by Folu, made the announcement in a statement on Monday.
According to AMG, the initiative has been in the works since 1996, adding that the target is to reach 100 million Africans with humanitarian support in the next 1o years.
The organisation said Folu and Adeboye decided to make the initiative public at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States, last Wednesday.

Adeboye said the duo decided to present Horizon 2033 to UNGA for more collaboration after the UN honoured his wife earlier in the year with the “Woman of distinction” award as an outstanding global peace ambassador.
The general overseer said AMG had been working “silently” because they “prefer not to make noise” adding that “we are in almost all the nations in Africa”.
“There you will find schools, boreholes etc done not by governments. But when the UN got notice, and they gave an honorary presentation to my wife, we felt it’s time to introduce ourselves to the world for more collaboration,” he said.

Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of Nigeria, who was also at the presentation of the initiative said RCCG general overseer and his wife “have really inspired us a lot”.
The first lady commended the work of the AMG which she described as “overwhelming”.
She added the cleric and his wife are leading examples of the ideal that “we are supposed to live beyond ourselves”.
On her part, Folu said the initiative was birthed to “nurture leaders of tomorrow to make them citizens of the world with strong moral values and integrity, hardworking and entrepreneurial”.

“The new media is filled with narratives of disaster. We can’t afford to sit back and not act,” she added.
Folu said AMG would meet its target by partnering with governments, multilateral and philanthropic organisations, and like-minded persons.
